Sustainable Mobility Plan for IMA employees in Ozzano dell'Emilia

The Sustainable Mobility Plan was presented on Wednesday, 22 January 2020 at the IMA Service Centre. This is an advanced integrated and sustainable mobility programme to facilitate the movement of IMA employees between Ozzano dell’Emilia and Castel San Pietro Terme, a city within the metropolitan area of Bologna (Italy).

The idea of sustainable mobility in the cities that host the Group’s 8 production plants, including the headquarters in Via Emilia, Ozzano, comes from an initiative by IMA’s union representatives and was possible thanks to an advanced system of relations between the company, the trade union and local institutions. After various planning meetings, the first of which was at IMA’s headquarters with the Regional Councillor for Transport, Raffaele Donini, in March 2019, the company decided to accept the final proposal and give it concrete support.

The synergy between the IMA Group, the Municipality of Ozzano dell’Emilia and the Emilia-Romagna Region has developed a plan to cut the use of private cars by workers, commuter travel in particular. The aim is to connect key places in the area that are not already connected – production plants, the railway station, residential centres in Ponte Rizzoli, the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Bologna – and encourage the use of public transport.

Starting from June 2020, the Integrated and Sustainable Mobility Plan has two dedicated lines: Citybus 1 and Citybus 2. The service, which is open to all citizens, will be guaranteed from Monday to Friday and will be free for IMA employees or for those who have a season ticket for the train. The lines that have been planned will allow maximum flexibility when travelling and will take account of connections, working hours and travel times.

IMA’s growth path towards an increasingly sustainable company, that is close to the territory and its people, is enriched with a new element, which consolidates a culture of sustainability where corporate welfare and the environment travel side-by-side to provide valid, concrete solutions to Group workers and citizens alike.
