TT5/10 Specialty Roaster by IMA Petroncini

Roasting up to 60kg per hour, TT5/10 Specialty Roaster is equipped with high-performance and technological components, which allow for full control of the roasting process

Thanks to the control of the roasting air temperature, roasting air volume and drum rotation speed, TT5/10 Specialty Roaster can let you vary the method of transferring heat to the bean, achieving the perfect air-to-bean ratio and balance between convection and conduction, according to the desired end product. The thermal energy cycle adopted by the Specialty Roaster allows for the gentle drying and caramelisation of the coffee sugars, putting the source of heat not in direct contact with the roasting chamber. The Specialty Roasters thus offer a soft roasting, taking care of the raw materials so as to achieve high quality aromatic profiles.

IMA OPENLab

OPENLab is the IMA Group’s network of technological laboratories and testing area, dedicated to the research on sustainable materials, technologies and production optimization processes.

Thanks to the implementation of the most modern digital infrastructures, together with think tank spaces, environments dedicated to the generation of ideas and the prototyping of materials, we aim to build a connection between knowledge and skills coming from machines, packaging manufacturing and customers.

The main goal of the laboratories is to find alternative materials to plastic and it aims to merge studies, experimentation and industrial development activities on materials including all laboratory phases, from design to engineering, of products and processes.

IMA and NatureWorks announce a Turn-Key Compostable Coffee Pod Solution Compatible for North America

IMA’s approach to sustainability has led to the design and adaptation of packaging technologies to effectively handle compostable materials.

By combining NatureWorks’ expertise in processing IngeoTM PLA biopolymer with IMA Coffee’s proficiency in the manufacturing of processing and packaging technologies, the partnership developed a simpler compostable coffee pod solution and supply chain. The collaboration between NatureWorks and IMA, bolstered by IMA OPENLab, the Group’s network of technological laboratories and testing facilities, laid the groundwork for a new market-ready coffee pod. Multiple studies and tests on the new compostable material and its performance throughout the packaging process have led to the proper configuration of IMA’s coffee pod filling and sealing machines, enabling them to handle the rigid capsule, filter, and multi-layered top lid made of Ingeo PLA biopolymer with high precision.

This will facilitate the easy setup of new production lines, thereby offering a turnkey compostable and sustainable solution at high production speeds, ensuring high-quality brewing.
