IMA's Commitment in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

Since the establishment of the United Nations, all Members have been working hard to find peaceful solutions to international disputes and promote respect for human rights.

In 2015, they devised and committed to the “2030 Agenda, a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity”, and at IMA, we asked ourselves what role we could play and how we could include ourselves in such complex issues.

It did seem rather ambitious to even consider of making a contribution to such a grand plan, given that we are just a drop in the ocean. However, upon greater reflection, we realized that without the contribution and commitment of the private sector, and of all those working for private companies, it would be impossible to transform some of the principles contained in the 2030 Agenda into a concrete reality.

Therefore, accordingly with the goals that have been internationally chosen, IMA has set its own 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: the Group’s contribution to “transform our world”.

We, at IMA, are committed to strive to implement social and environmental initiatives, with the ultimate goal of sharing and giving visibility to these actions to promote the spreading of the 2030 Agenda principles.

As a company, we believe that creating a Global Partnership for Sustainable Development means joining forces and giving priority to the most urgent initiatives. As a result of this winning philosophy, just to give an example, we have supported the implementation of the FAO Project “Improving food packaging for small and medium agro enterprises in Sub-Saharan Africa”, taking the example from a project based on a vast partnership, the SAVEFOOD initiative.

IMA believes it is time to forge partnerships with public institutions, with NGOs and with our end-users, to bring better living condition to every corner of the globe, starting from the poorest areas.

This should be everyone’s goal, using the most appropriate means and strategies.
