Mr. Paper takes the shape of a Quattro-Bag on IMA Ilapak packaging machines.

During Anuga FoodTec, taking place in Cologne (Germany) from 26 to 29 April, visitors will be able to see in action the IMA Ilapak’s Vegatronic 6000 VFFS bagging machine running Quad seal bags using the SILBO’s “Mr. Paper” 100% recyclable paper wrapping material.

This innovative and eco-friendly solution was born from the collaboration between IMA Ilapak and SILBO, two companies that strongly prioritise sustainability.

The new paper bag produced on IMA Ilapak’s machines is suitable for various food products. One of its most important features is the strong seal, which makes the bag durable. Moreover, the kraft paper used in the package does not absorb moisture and it is printed with high-quality, ecological, and water-based inks.

Not only is SILBO’s “Mr. Paper” packaging 100% recyclable, but also the packaging material comes from responsible sources, as evidenced by PEFC and FSC certificates. This is a cutting-edge eco-friendly and sustainable solution, which can successfully replace plastic in flexible packaging.

This new project falls under the IMA ZERO project, which is the Group’s evolution of its pledge towards Sustainable Development, aiming at reducing environmental impact in industrial manufacturing. In particular, this entire initiative is part of the NOP (No-Plastic Program), the program that promotes the research and employment of eco-friendly plastic substitutes for the packages manufactured on IMA’s machines. Thanks to IMA OPENLab, the Group’s network of technological laboratories, it is possible to study, develop and test sustainable, compostable, biodegradable or recyclable materials, technologies and production optimisation processes.

Many IMA ZERO projects can be discovered at the Anuga FoodTec 2022, where it will be possible to see the Vegatronic 6000 VFFS machine in action.
