The second project for a new group of students of the THM started end of May 2024. For this project the number of interested students willing to work on the project increased to 53 students and together with Prof. Dr. Timo Nuyken they have been on a one-week excursion at Hassia Verpackungsmaschinen GmbH in Ranstadt.
Hassia’s inhouse four-person project team had already visited the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management at THM Friedberg in early May and worked on the topic for this project which was the analysis of the F600, a vertical form, fill & seal machine for sachets.
On site in Ranstadt the students got internal data for their analyses, got an overview about the actual processes and complexities. They analysed the processes in the following departments: procurement, engineering, production/assembly, marketing/sales as well as service.
After their analyses the students proposed the introduction of a modular system as part of the course ‘Life Cycle Oriented Production Management (LZOPM)’
Potential through the introduction of a modular system:
Cost reduction through economies of scale in
Improved market adaptation due to shorter development times
Simplified maintenance and service
Aim of the modular system
