IMA will be Silver Sponsor at Colombo International Tea Convention 2024

The Colombo International Tea Convention 2024 sets the stage for an immersive exploration into the diverse world of Ceylon Tea. As an integral part of lifestyle and culture, tea takes center stage, promoting sustainable thinking and collective action to uplift tea-growing communities and environments worldwide. From July 24th to 26th, this prestigious event will be held at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Representing IMA, Mr. Klaus Peters, Managing Director at IMA Tea&Herbs, will deliver a speech on 26th July, 2:50 pm – 3:00 pm, titled

 “Sustainable Packaging
How do European regulations impact on traditional tea packaging?
IMA’s approach towards the sustainability challenge – IMA OPENLab”

Packaging has always played a crucial role in any food industry aiming to ensure product freshness, safety and consumer appeal and IMA has constantly responded to any market demand with the most technologically advanced solutions. But when we come to Sustainability and the need to support our customers in the transition towards renewed packaging materials, production processes and services, IMA becomes an ideal partner, capable to support customers, not only with innovative technologies able to adapt to new generation packaging materials but with a concrete approach aimed to guide and actively help them achieving the most challenging goals.

Anticipating today’s quest for sustainability, IMA took the first revolutionary step in the tea bag packaging sector already back in 1998 by designing a sophisticated solution aimed to replace the traditional aluminium staple with simple knots to fix the tag and the thread to the filter bag. As a matter of fact, teabags packed on IMA machines fully comply with sustainable principles as all packaging materials involved are fully recyclable or compostable, from cotton thread to final tamper evident packaging in paper boxes avoiding the use of additional overwrapping.
