Leakage into a freeze dryer may originate from various sources. The leak rate should be monitored periodically to maintain the integrity of the system and, should the rate exceed specified limits, to determine the actual leak site for repair purposes.

QUANTUM smart Mass Spectrometer is a non-invasive technique capable of performing real-time, process-relevant, quantitative measurements. A multipurpose device for use in pharmaceutical freeze dryers, it detects contaminants and process gases at concentrations down to ppm levels. Not only does this allow for silicone oil detection and for non-aqueous solvent detection, but QUANTUM can also be used as a system leak detection tool and as a process analytical tool for scale-up and development studies.
Robust, reliable and ultra-compact, QUANTUM houses a pre-calibrated modular sensor comprising a long-lasting ion source, a quadrupole array mass filter, electron multiplier, and the Faraday Cup detector.
