IMA Active is pleased to take part in the international online conference “Industry 4.0: innovative solutions in the production of Oral Solid Dosage forms: technologies and equipment”, which will be held online on December 15, 2021.
Promoted by the Pharmaceutical Industry review, this conference will bring together pharmaceutical industry manufacturers, technologists and experts from the nutraceutical and the cosmetic industries to discuss the latest development and technologies for OSD production.
As solid pharmaceutical forms account for approximately 60% of the total finished pharmaceutical market. It is more and more strategic to have an holistic approach to all technological steps, to avoid problems during the scale-up from R&D to industrial scale production thanks to a deep understanding of the process.
Formulation experts and machine manufacturers will present all OSD production process phases, sharing their experiences and case studies.
Carlo Tenore, Product Manager for granulation at IMA Active, will present the case study “Metformin manufacturing: tips for a wet granulation process”.
Oral solid dosage (OSD) forms remain a popular choice for both pharmaceutical companies and patients. Convenience, ease of manufacture and administration, increased stability, and simplicity for pack and transport—compared with alternative dosage forms—are some of the factors leading to the continued popularity of OSDs. As tablets comprise a significant proportion of OSD forms, within the pharma industry, tools able to support in formulation and manufacturing efficiencies are of critical importance.
Aim of this case study is the optimization of the granulation process (wet granulation with Roto Mix, IMA and fluid bed drying with Aria 600, IMA) to reduce phase time and increase the productivity of Metformin 500 mg granules, during the tableting phase.
