IMA GIMA FTB TL Series – Top loading cartoners for tray and display box

The FTB TL is a compact monobloc top-loading cartoners series. Modular design allows maximum flexibility, enabling the processing of many different product types and packaging solutions. Products are handled by robotic units. Extending the main transport system enables customers to combine different products in the same box or integrate other feeding units (leaflet, interlayer, etc.).

Two configurations of this model are currently available in the IMA Gima assembly department until June 10th, as part of a vials packaging line destined for the pharma vet market.

A brief description of the configurations follows:

Configuration FTB577 n. 1

An FTB577 is available for viewing at the IMA Gima Division assembly area until May 16th, 2025, featuring a spectacular and innovative module that forms a cardboard grid from a flat blank and inserts it into the display box, followed by the insertion of vials. This innovative technology is truly remarkable and we highly recommend seizing the opportunity to witness it firsthand.

Top loader for cartons – main steps:

• Forming and gluing of cardboard box starting from flat blank
• Forming and assembling of partition grid starting from flat blanks and insertion of the grid into the display box
• Feeding of vials
• Feeding of booklet
• Display box closure

Formats:

1. 50 vials / Display box
2. 25 vials / Display box

Configuration FTB577 n. 2

Within the same project, another IMA GIMA FTB577 is available in the same assembly area until May 16th, 2025. In this configuration, the vials are housed in two different plastic trays (PVC/R-PET).

Top Loader for Plastic trays – main steps:

• Feeding of thermoformed plastic trays from an horizontal magazine
• Insertion of glass/plastic vials into the plastic tray base by means of robotic pick & place unit.
• Feeding of booklet
• Feeding of tray card on the plastic lid
• Plastic tray closure

Formats:

1. 50 vials – The tray is comprised of two components: a base and a lid
2. 25 vials – The tray is a single-piece (clamshell) with an integrated lid

Production speed for both FTB577 configurations :

• Product infeed: 1200 vials / minute
• Packages output: up to 48 / minute

Line description:

The project involves two upstream IMA Life Sensitive AV labelling for the vials, which are then packaged by the two FTB577 into cardboard cartons or plastic trays. Downstream, an IMA BFB MS560, bandling machine and an IMA BFB CPV15+RP2 integrated case packer and palletizer rounds off the line.
