The PH 3000 project started back in 2019, with the aim of designing a brand new HFFS flow wrapping machine capable of meeting the demanding requirements of pharmaceutical and medical applications. Furthermore, this solution aimed to complete our portfolio in this specific sector.
The main challenge was to design and manufacture a completely new machine platform, improving the technical features of our previous Delta 6000 range, originally developed for the food sector. The ultimate goal was to achieve superior speed and sealing performance, achieving up to 450 ppm while granting hermetic tightness. This would place us exactly where we wanted to be: the high-end segment of the pharmaceutical and medical sectors. In addition, the PH 3000, had to be to be suitable for both plug & play integration within IMA Pharma lines and for stand-alone applications.
Born from the experience gained in the field by the IMA Ilapak team, this machine breaks with the past thanks to its completely new and revolutionary architecture. Minimal footprint, total visibility of product and packaging material, ease of cleaning and accessibility for operations and maintenance. All this combined with excellent ergonomics, quick and easy format changes and the built-in by-pass function.
Additionally, for the American market, a new Allen Bradley electronic platform is available to meet local requirements.
One key factor behind the success of this project comes from the growing synergy with the other IMA Pharma divisions and the fruitful technical and commercial cooperation with IMA Safe.
“We are very proud and satisfied with the PH 3000 as all project targets have been brilliantly achieved and even exceeded. The sales results reached after the official launch in 2020 have been extremely good and many important business relationships have been established with the sector’s largest multinational companies.” says Roberto Beati.
Thanks to this new platform, where best-in-class speed, sealing performance, efficiency and flexibility are the key points, IMA Ilapak is recognised by the market as one of today’s main global flow wrapping players in this industry. The high-speed inline by-pass running at over 300 ppm and the quick and tool-free change mode from flowpack to by-pass make this equipment unique in the current market scenario. In addition, the machine can be easily configured according to the customer’s technical and budget needs. Therefore, given its modularity and flexibility, this solution is suitable both for multinational and local companies, and can embrace a wide range of applications including blisters, BFS, inhalers, syringes, medical devices and bottles.
IMA Ilapak’s R&D department is still actively working on the project with the aim of implementing new features, including full laser printer integration and control of OEM devices from machine’s HMI, and to optimise and standardise integrated solutions with IMA Safe’s high-speed blister machines.
