PRESENTATION TITLE AND ABSTRACT

CONFIGURATION OF ISOLATOR VENTILATION SYSTEM AND HVAC FOR INJECTABLE PRODUCT WITH CRITICAL REQUIREMENTS

The presentation intends to provide an overview of critical production scenarios where the isolator design as to keep in consideration extreme environmental conditions and the presence of hazardous products. Case studies will be presented where different type of aseptic productions are analyzed: cold filling, high temperature products, aseptic production in full inert atmosphere and a peculiar ”one-pass” design for high potent and biologically hazardous injectables.  During the technical analysis will be described how it is possible to create innovative isolated filling lines able to achieve this goals, keeping safe the aseptic requirements and GMP compliance.

The “one-pass” configuration makes possible to treat highly toxic products or products with a high biological risk, minimizing the risk of cross-contamination in the ventilation and filtration system. To implement this solution, balancing chambers and pressure control systems were developed, capable of handling air flow rates three times higher than traditional isolators.

Alessandro is currently Product Manager for Isolation Technology at IMA Life, a division of IMA S.p.A.
His main focus in his current position is on isolators for aseptic filling lines. He joined IMA Group in 1996 as Technical Engineer on automatic machines and then as Technical Engineer on containment systems. Before joining IMA he was employed as Technical Manager on isolators at Comecer.
