RDD 2021 Virtual Conference • 04-07 May 2021

The event takes place from 04/05/2021 to 07/05/2021

IMA Active and IMA Automation at RDD 2021 Virtual Conference

IMA Active and IMA Automation are pleased to take part in the RDD 2021 Virtual Conference, which will be held online on May 04-07, 2021.

Respiratory Drug Delivery 2021 (RDD 2021) is the must attend, premier international conference for researchers, regulators, business professionals and suppliers active in pulmonary and nasal drug delivery.

While the global pandemic is keeping us physically apart, RDD 2021 is evolving to bring us closer in a new virtual format. RDD 2021 includes separate rooms for podium, workshop, exhibition and poster sessions.
Within each Knowledge Space, on-demand presentations by invited experts will merge seamlessly with posters and workshop presentations on related topics, and with material offered by exhibitors active in the field.
After April 27, recorded speaker, workshop and poster presentations may be viewed 24/7 until June 30, 2021. During this extended conference window, exhibits will also be available and RDD messaging and meeting scheduling will allow to reach other conference participants.

Workshop and live Q&A session

IMA Active and IMA Automation will take part in the Workshop and live Q&A session with a demonstration on “Manufacturing DPIs: an engineering perspective”.

When developing new pharmaceutical products in DPI form, the powder cannot be compacted at all, and its airway intake must be improved. The use of hard capsules at very low humidity is highly recommended for this purpose, without affecting other important process requirements such as precise micro-dosing, weight control, containment measures and ease of device assembly.

IMA draws on its extensive expertise to provide the most advanced solutions for DPI product processing and assembly. Gravimetric weight control performed in-line on each single capsule or device, both before and after filling. Absence of powder compression by mechanical action and/or by vacuum. Accurate micro-dosing and automatic feedback and adjustment. Highly flexible and precise inhaler assembly in accordance with design for manufacturing (DFM) and proof of principle studies at an early stage.

The workshop provides attendees with an opportunity to see the technical solutions available and to understand how to address the various challenges linked to DPI manufacturing and delivery via discussions with our experienced IMA Product Managers. The Adapta capsule filler will be demonstrated: IMA will show how the machine weighing system ensures maximum dosing precision and reliability regardless the product that must be dosed. Adapta will demonstrate the accuracy of the 100% direct gravimetric fill weight control using extra dry capsules at 15% r.h. and 20°C.

IMAs’ comprehensive knowledge of engineered solutions for medical devices will be presented as well as the benefits available from effective DFM studies.

Meet our experts, Alessio Tarozzi, Product Manager for capsule fillers at IMA Active and Mathieu Pfeiffer, Head of Business Development at IMA Automation Switzerland, during the  live Q&A session that will take place from 5:15 to 6:15 PM CET on Thursday May 6, 2021.
