Thanks to the coffee capsule market growth of the last years and due to the variety of presentations of these products in the market, today is very important to provide the right equipment to pack the Single Serve Capsules in the proper way and according to the customer needs.
IMA Coffee’s capsule cartoning machines can package American and Espresso coffee capsules, tea and soluble beverages in general. Together with IMA’s high-speed filling and sealing machines, IMA Coffee can offer a turnkey solution. Production rate is up to 900 capsules/min at infeed and capsule can be arranged in different configurations in terms of capsule collection and type of carton to be handled in order to meet the market demand.
According to market demand, the machine can be configured with different set-up in terms of closures. Starting from the simplest one with just the top flap or adding the frontal flap. It is feasible also the closure of 2 additional lateral flaps up to the more complex flip top closure, which can be with or without temper evident system.

In terms of capsule configurations IMA Coffee’s capsule cartoning machines can arrange capsules in different ways: the most common orientation is the nested one, where one capsule face up alternates with one capsule face down, in this way the space inside the box is reduced, saving packaging material and space on the shelf.

Flower
Another common capsule orientation, above all for Nespresso Compatible, is the one in quincunx or “flower” configuration, where capsules are oriented face down with capsules face up interlocked in the space available in between. The most used configurations are the single layer of 10 capsules (8 face down and 2 face up) and the 2 layers of 5 (4 face down and 1 face up each layer).

Same orientation or bulk
Other examples of configurations, with all the capsules with the same orientation (all face down or all face up) are possible as well as the filling of capsules randomly, in bulk, without any orientation, by counting star-wheels and hopper systems.
