Launch of the STEAM International High School of Bologna, chaired by Alberto Vacchi

Confindustria Emilia presents the STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts Mathematics) International High School of Bologna, whose mission is to restructure the applied sciences course at scientific high school. The High School, chaired by Alberto Vacchi, Chairman and CEO of the IMA Group, will start with the next academic year 2019-20. It is a scuola paritaria (i.e. a private school with equivalent standing as a state school), recognised by the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) as experimental, with Via Cartoleria, Bologna as its location.

An innovative training proposal, inspired by best international practice, but adapted for the Italian market, with a four-year curriculum based on the Cambridge (UK) model that prepares students for a double high school diploma one year in advance: British A-Level exams (in collaboration with Cambridge International) and the Italian State exam, giving them access to any university in the world.

The course of study will be developed through innovative teaching methods, consisting of lectures and projects, of which at least 50% in English, which will allow students to acquire both hard and soft skills, as well as academic knowledge in various subjects.

Up to six scholarships are envisaged, covering the entire course of study.

“On the many occasions that we have had to talk with companies in recent years, there has always been one particularly important topic that required urgent consideration: that of education and training. This is why we have worked hard on the STEAM High School project, seeking out the best teachers to launch this first Emilia-based course. We believe that the main added value lies in the quality of the teachers, in the climate that they are able to create, in their proactive approach and in the passion and enthusiasm that they manage to exude in training and educating our children”,declared the President of Confindustria Emilia, Valter Caiumi.

“The project began last year, in April 2018, based on a shared opinion within the General Council of the Association of the need for an innovative training model and a period of study in line with the rest of Europe. Another key element for us is to have a model that forms part of a network with the cultures of more than 100 countries through a modern and international approach, focused on the knowledge and study of languages, but which also puts the right emphasis on Italy’s extraordinary culture” added the President of the STEAM International High School of Bologna, Alberto Vacchi.
