What is CROMA in your view?

“Croma is a machine that is complex yet simple at the same time. For example, at the start I thought we’d have needed some kind of incredible computer to handle it. But in the end, all we had to do was expand our perspective and look at a new control system”.

LYnfinity Genesis Episode #3

Developing a revolutionary freeze-drying technology always requires some form of lateral thinking. One challenge was to find a way of making the freeze-dried product compatible with a variety of containers. Typically, freeze-dried products were handled in vials or on bulk trays limiting the use of alternate emerging containers. The intuition our LAB4Life team had in Tonawanda at the IMA Life North America facilities turned the issue on its head and adapted the product form to any container.
Watch the video and see how a game of golf changed the approach and contributed to the success of LYnfinity’s spray freeze-drying technology.

LYnfinity Genesis Episode #2

Especially since the planet is faced with a pandemic, freeze drying has come under a lot of attention. Efficiency, simple supply chains, a need for large volumes are factors that have driven the development of technologies such as those of our LYnfinity spray freeze-drying solution. One issue we need to re-think was the heat and mass transfer. Many technological innovations are born thanks to a strange intuition, a sort of Eureka moment and this is what happened when we realised it would work by freezing the drug as a pellet and drying it without a container, improving heat and mass transfer, ultimately resulting in reduced drying time.
Discover how we came upon the idea for the spray freeze drying procedure in this video.
