Packaging machines: towards new ISO standards with Andrea Malagoli leading new international technical committee.

Andrea Malagoli has been appointed Chairman of the new international committee ISO/TC 313 Packaging Machinery.

Andrea Malagoli, born in 1965, is Executive Director and Chief Operative Officer of IMA S.p.A. with specific powers for the Dairy & Food business and a member of the majority shareholder Vacchi family, as well as Vice Chairman of Ucima (Italian Union of Automatic Machine Manufacturers).

Andrea Malagoli’s appointment follows the approval of ISO (International Organization for Standardization) of the Italian proposal to build a new work group to establish international standards in packaging machines and plants.

With a view to overcoming sector conflict between standards in Europe and America or other countries, the newly set up committee will work towards developing unique standards for application not just Europe-wide but globally.

Malagoli will lead the international group ISO/TC 313 on drawing up new standards, with particular reference to safety, design and efficiency.

All major countries producing or using packaging technologies will participate in the work group, and have acknowledged Italian manufacturers’ right to head the international committee due to their leading role on the global stage.

The first international meeting will take place in Milan on 10thOctober 2018.
