The IMA Group at SIC 2009

IMA continues to innovate and meet the needs of a market that increasingly calls for machines capable of guaranteeing continuous and high output efficiency. As a world leader in the design and manufacture of automatic machines for the processing and packaging of tea and coffee, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, IMA comes closer than anyone to understanding and satisfying your requirements.

At SIC 2009 the IMA Group exhibited  new solutions for the packaging of coffee and food products.

IMA FLAVOUR exhibited the CA3, a monobloc machine capable of packing, in a modified atmosphere, both soft and hard pods containing coffee, heatsealing them in a protective outer envelope and finally packing them into cartons at a production speed of 250 pods/minute. Thanks to an advanced system for coffee dosing and compression, a homogeneous coffee distribution inside the pod and a great precision of its profile are guaranteed. The whole pod production cycle until its packaging into the heatsealed outer envelope is carried out in a modified and conditioned atmosphere.

On show by IMA SAFE LINE, the AF60, a new innovative overwrapping machine suitable for any kind of market (food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical). The cantilever structure and separation of the drive and production units allow the best access for service, maintenance and cleaning. Very quick size changeover, ergonomic film reels change, production speed up to 60 bundles/minute. The machine is equipped with up-stacking unit driven by servo motor to stack products up to 200 layers/minute. As alternative to the standard up-stacking infeed system, the AF60 can be arranged with a Pick & Place system to manage each single product or layer and collate bundles with several layers.

The Group’s organisational structure features four leading business areas in the main sectors: IMA FLAVOUR (Tea & Coffee Packaging Solutions), IMA ACTIVE Division (Solid Dose Solutions), IMA LIFE (Aseptic Processing & Filling Solutions) and IMA SAFE (Packaging Solutions).

IMA FLAVOUR offers the widest range of machines for the packaging of tea and herbs in filter bags and of coffee in filter paper pods either for regular and espresso coffee.

IMA ACTIVE Division offers a complete range of machines for the process and production of solid dose products: granulation equipment, tablet press machines manufactured both by IMA and by KILIAN, capsule filling machines, coating systems, checkweighers for capsules and tablets as well as powder handling and washing systems manufactured by ZANCHETTA.

IMA LIFE offers machines for washing and sterilising pharmaceutical vials, filling and stoppering machines for aseptic environments, filling and closing machines for pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, microdosing machines for aseptic powder filling and, thanks to IMA EDWARDS*, freeze-drying machinery. IMA LIFE also offers labellers, blowing machines, depackers and traying machines. IMA LIFE has recently acquired PharmaSiena, an Italian company that specialise in the design and production of filling machines for ampoules and syringes in aseptic environments.

IMA SAFE is the only manufacturer that offers complete primary and secondary packaging line solutions to the pharmaceutical, toiletry, cosmetic and food industries. Blister machines have speed ranges from low to super high speed (1,300 blisters/minute). Low speed machines are also manufactured by the subsidiary PRECISION GEARS (India). Tablet counting machine production includes IMA SAFE NOVA (USA) and IMA SAFE SWIFTPACK (UK). Tube fillers are manufactured by IMA SAFE CO.MA.DI.S., while horizontal and vertical cartoners are manufactured by IMA SAFE. IMA SAFE LINE offers a complete range of end of line equipment which includes over-wrapping, shrink-wrapping, case packing and palletizing solutions.
